2010 Fight for Air Climb
Step up that StairMaster workout — on March 6, the American Lung Association hosts the Fourth Annual Fight for Air Climb (formerly Climb Pittsburgh) at the Gulf Tower Downtown. To suit your own level of physical fitness, you can choose from 19 or 38 flights of stairs. There’s also an option to “Ride the Elevator,” where you can make a donation to the cause without running up the stairs. According to the Lung Association, most people who can walk a mile will be able to make the full climb, and most people can complete it in less than 20 minutes. Animal Friends’ Telethon
Do you give more than a bow-wow about abused animals? Then tune into WTAE-TV on March 27 and show your support for Animal Friends during its annual telethon. The afternoon’s program will broadcast from noon to 4:30 p.m. and show members of the organization saving abandoned dogs, cats, and rabbits from dire situations. As Animal Friends finds comfortable new homes for their furry friends, viewers are invited to call in and make donations. All proceeds will help abandoned and abused pets, so tune in, call them up, and help out an animal in need — last year’s telethon helped 45 animals find homes and raised $197,000.
